Ms. Karen Ann Kuruvilla is a compassionate and highly skilled Speech-Language Pathologist with clinical experience in hospital-based settings, delivering comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services to both adult and pediatric populations. Building on her strong clinical foundation, she served as a Speech Language Pathologist at Neurogen Brain and Spine Institute in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, for over two years, where she played a key role in providing comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services to both adult and pediatric populations across acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, and outpatient settings, while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic, patient-centered care within multicultural and multilingual environments. Karen has also conducted individual and group therapy sessions, mentored clinical fellows, parents and other professionals across the globe and contributed to quality improvement initiatives and documentation efficiency within the department.

Professional experience

Karen’s skill set encompasses a wide range of competencies, including conducting comprehensive speech, language, feeding, and swallowing evaluations, Diagnosing and treating Developmental language delays, Speech sound disorders, Childhood apraxia of speech (CAS), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Cerebral Palsy, Intellectual Disability, Voice disorders, Fluency disorders, Hearing impairments, Pediatric and Adult Dysphagia, Post-stroke Aphasia and Dysarthria, Cognitive-communication impairments, use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), providing discharge planning, outpatient referrals as well as providing family-centered education and home programs.

During her internship tenure, she has gained extensive experience working in diverse clinical environments, including hospitals and rehabilitation centers across India including All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), Believers Church Medical College Hospital, Ragajiri Hospital, Yenapoya Hospital, and Dr. S.R Chandrasekhar Institute of Speech and Hearing. Karen’s passion lies in empowering children with the ability to communicate and express themselves, whether through verbal or alternative methods. Her approach is grounded in clinical reasoning, ensuring that each child receives a personalized intervention strategy tailored to their unique needs.
